Northern Film Festival 2010
32th edition of the Northern Film Festival
The Northern Film Festival will have its 32th edition in 2010. This year more than a hundred and fifty movies will be shown during five festival days. The audience can choose a popular film in one of the larger theatres or an intimate show in one of the smaller theatres. In the foyer there are plenty of opportunities to discuss movies, contemplate over films or leaf through the programme once again. All activities are located on one location (Stadsschouwburg De Harmonie), part of the programme is situated next door, in the ‘Filmhuis’.
Interregional Competition
The Interregional Competition is getting an increasingly prominent role on the festival. More attention is paid to the backgrounds of the competing films. Films selected for the Interregional Competition come from different European countries and for the first time this year from outside Europe. The winner of the competition is awarded a prize, the Matad’or and € 10.000,-, which is made available by the Province of Friesland.
Northern amateur Film Festival
The Northern Amateur Film Festival takes place on Saturday November 13th. This is a unique open platform anyone can send his or her movie to. The amateur festival is the part of the festival many young film makers look forward to. All films will be reviewed and will have an official jury’s report. Winners will be chosen in several categories. |
